Cardiovascular Health and Autonomic Dysfunction in Adults with Lower-Limb Amputation

Research Objectives:
The goal of this study is to explore relationships between heart and blood vessel health and nervous system function after lower-limb amputation.
Eligibility Criteria:
You may be eligible if…
• You have a below-knee amputation, and…
o Are 20-85 years-old.
o Have no history of heart attack, stroke, or heart failure.
o Do not have any amputation of the opposite leg (other than toes).
o Do not have any amputations of your arms (other than fingers).
o Did not have your amputation due to a birth defect and do not use a prosthesis due to limb difference from birth.
You may be eligible if…
• You match an individual with limb amputation and…
o Are 20-85 years-old.
o Have no history of heart attack, stroke, or heart failure.
o Have had no pain in the past week.
Compensation Details:
• Up to $210 in gift cards for completion of Part 1 and Part 2.
• You have the option to participate in Part 1 ($110) and not Part 2 ($100).

Time Commitment:
PART 1:
• < 1 hour Survey Packet (at home)
• < 2 hours Clinical Examination at a local clinic or the University of Delaware
• Wear activity monitors for 7 days
PART 2 (optional): 2-hour Clinical Examination at University of Delaware
