Partnering with the Amputee Coalition on Research

At the Amputee Coalition, we know that strong research leads to meaningful change. As the nation’s leading advocacy organization for people with limb loss and limb difference, we’re committed to shaping policies and practices that reflect real community needs. That’s why we prioritize patient-driven research and continuously gather feedback from the limb loss and limb difference community to guide our efforts.

How We Collaborate

We support research that advances prevention, care, and quality of life for people with limb loss and limb difference. Our collaborations fall into three main categories:

  • Research Partnerships – These are in-depth collaborations where Amputee Coalition staff contribute to study design, implementation, analysis, or reporting. To apply for a research partnership, researchers must submit a Research Partnership Application along with their IRB approval letter and project proposal.

  • Volunteer Research Opportunities – If you’re looking to engage individuals with limb loss and limb difference in your research, we may be able to share your study on our website. These opportunities must go through our review process, and approved studies will be endorsed by the Amputee Coalition. To apply, submit a Volunteer Research Opportunity Application.

  • Letters of Support – A letter of support from the Amputee Coalition can help validate your research. We consider these requests for studies that demonstrate a clear benefit to the LL/LD community. To be considered, submit a Letter of Support Request Form along with a draft letter or outline detailing the key points to include.

For details on our research activities, including annual reporting requirements and advertising options, please review our Research Collaboration Policies and Procedures.
