Research Objectives:

Main Research Question

What is the lived experience for tween’s with congenital upper limb differences as they navigate the social context?

Sub-Research Questions

SRQ 1: What is the tween’s experience when someone notices and makes comments about their limb difference?

SRQ 2: What is hard for tween’s with congenital limb differences when navigating social interactions?

SRQ3: What is easy for tween’s with congenital limb differences when navigating social interactions?

Objectives:

Objective 1:

To examine how tweens with congenital upper limb differences experience and respond when others notice and comment on their limb difference.

Objective 2:

To identify the challenges faced by tweens with congenital limb differences during social interactions.

Objective 3:

To explore the aspects of social interactions that are perceived as easy or manageable for tweens with congenital limb differences.

Eligibility Criteria:

Participants will include tweens aged 10–12 years with a congenital upper limb difference.

A congenital upper limb difference is defined as a visible difference in the appearance, form, and/or function of the upper limb present since birth, with the ability and the capacity to draw/sketch 2 pictures.

Both participants and their caregivers must communicate fluently in English.

Compensation Details:

Each participant will receive a $20 gift card
