Study Title:

Regenerative peripheral nerve interfaces (RPNIs) to enhance function and sensation in people with transhumeral amputation

Study Location:

Ann Arbor, MI

Research Objectives:

Our research objective is to validate the use of RPNIs for advanced prosthetic bi-directional control of upper limb prostheses including an elbow, wrist and a hand as intuitively as an intact limb for individuals with amputation at transhumeral level.

Eligibility Criteria:

Participants must be or have:

● 22 years of age or older

● an upper limb amputation at the transhumeral level: either previously undergone or scheduled to undergo a unilateral upper limb amputation above the elbow

● in good general health

● able to attend (min) 1 visits/month while electrodes remain implanted

Compensation Details:

All costs associated with study-related procedures will be covered by the study. Participants will receive $20/hour, including travel time, and free parking

Enrollment Closes:

Dec 31, 2027

Time Commitment:

Participants will be asked to attend experimental visits starting around 3 months after implantation, occurring 1–2 times per month. Each visit will last either half a day (4 hours) or a full day (8 hours) for at least 1 year and up to a maximum of 10 years.
