Policy Topic #3 CMS DMEPOS Enrollment Moratorium: What It Means for Our Community
On February 25, 2026, CMS announced a six-month nationwide moratorium on new Medicare enrollments for certain DMEPOS suppliers, specifically medical supply companies whose primary function is providing DMEPOS items.
Not all suppliers are affected. Hospitals, physician practices, pharmacies, home health agencies, and others whose main business is not DMEPOS are exempt. Applications submitted before February 25, 2026, and routine enrollment updates are also not impacted. CMS may extend the moratorium beyond six months.
This policy could affect supplier expansion and access in some communities. The Amputee Coalition is closely monitoring the situation to assess any impact on people with limb loss and limb difference.
If you experience delays or access challenges you believe are related to this policy, please report them using the form below. We remain committed to advocating for timely access to care and will share updates as more information becomes available.
