Study Title:
The Effectiveness of Frontal Plane Adaptability in a Novel Foot Prosthesis for People with Above-Knee Amputations, Bilateral Amputations, or Limited Mobility
Study Location:
University of Washington, Seattle, Washington
Research Objectives:
The purpose of this research study is to evaluate a prosthetic foot designed to be adaptable to the position on the ground, such as on uneven ground and side-slopes for people with bilateral or above-knee amputations or people with below-knee amputations with lower levels of mobility
Eligibility Criteria:
The study will include three groups of people with amputations: 1) people with unilateral above-knee amputations, 2) people with bilateral lower extremity amputations, and 3) people with unilateral below-knee amputation who are categorized as having K2 limited community ambulation level of mobility. Participants will be 16 years or older regardless of gender, race, or ethnicity. The weight limit is 165.6 kg (365 lbs.). Participants may use a walking aid but should not primarily rely on wheelchair mobility. People must have the ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
Compensation Details:
Participants will receive up to $600 for participating in the entire study.
Parking and transportation will be paid
Enrollment Closes:
Dec 31, 2026
Time Commitment:
Study participation involves 4 visits to the UW AMP Lab
Use of the investigational prosthetic foot for 4 weeks.
Each study session takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.
