Why I volunteer for the AC | I first began treating patients with limb loss as a bedside nurse in 1999. I was extremely fortunate to work with a plastic surgeon who’s focus was on diabetic limb salvage. After I became an NP, I worked in the wound center at Georgetown Hospital and learned wound care. In 2009, I helped to form the wound care team at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where I cared for wounded warriors suffering from limb loss. My passion for care of the patient with limb loss has been some of the most rewarding work of my career. I am pleased that I opened a limb optimization clinic at GW and can lend my expertise to the AC and SciMAC. |
