Floyd Medical Center is a regional leader in providing Inpatient and Outpatient Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation services in Northwest Georgia. In addition to our Inpatient Rehabilitation unit at Floyd Medical Center, we also offer Outpatient services in Calhoun, Cartersville, Cedartown, Rockmart, Rome and Summerville.
Beginning in our acute care setting, therapy is available to assist patients in the rehab process. Some patients are approved for our Inpatient Rehabilitation unit where there have an average length of stay of 12 days and receive 3 hours of therapy per day. Rehabilitation nursing care is available 24 hours a day.
We also have Polk Subacute Rehab as part of our continuum that some patients need. In that setting 1-1.5 hours of the day are spent in therapy. There is a daily activities schedule and the average length of stay is 17-20 days. Nursing care is available 24 hours per day in this setting too.
Ultimately, our goal is to transition patients to Outpatient care for strengthening, balance and gait training. If a prosthesis is appropriate, our therapist who specializes in limb loss care will help navigate the steps to restoring your functional independence. At our facility, you would have access to modern technology such as the Biodex Balance Master, an overhead unweighing device, and the Video Laser Analysis to ensure you can safely monitor and improve balance.
In the Northwest Georgia area, we are the only facility with a dedicated Limb Loss Program and a therapist with a passion to work with patients who have undergone an amputation.
