My name is ____. I reside in ____. I am calling regarding Assembly Bill 4418, a bill requiring parity for insurance coverage of prosthetic devices. This is an important bill for amputees in New York. I urge Representative ____ to push for a public hearing for Assembly Bill 4418 in the Insurance Committee.SAMPLE LETTER Dear Senator ____,I am writing in regards to regarding Assembly Bill 4418. This legislation is smart policy for the state of New York. Assembly Bill 4418 offers the opportunity to provide appropriate care for amputees when their prosthetic limb is damaged or stolen. This enables individuals to remain employed, productive members of society. It also avoids the complications that result when someone is forced into a wheelchair or onto crutches for an extended period of time. In addition, Assembly Bill 4418 ensures that children with limb loss are able to access the care they need as they grow. It will ensure that the tragedy of a child losing a limb is not compounded by forcing that child to spend the rest of their childhood in a wheelchair when help is readily available. The impact on monthly premiums would be very low. There would also be a savings in both the private and public sectors as a result of provision. This is not only common sense, but also the right thing to do. That is why fellow committee member, Assemblyman Powell is co-sponsoring this bill. I am urging you to please hold a public hearing and committee vote on this legislation this year. Sincerely, NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE |
