The Michigan Society To Advance Rehabilitation, Inc. (M-STAR) is seeking used lower-limb components and funds to transport prostheses, equipment and a health team to Mexico in September.

Operation Compassion’s goal is to travel to a different country each year with a team of prosthetists, prosthetic technicians, physical therapists and nurses. Their first trip will be to San Miguel, Guanajuato, Mexico where they expect to help 100 to 150 people with lower-limb amputations.

Dr. Saul Morris, founder and president of M-STAR, is a former U.S. Navy medic who lost his leg due to peripheral vascular disease in November 2000.

To get involved or to donate money or a gently used prosthetic limb to Morris’ Operation Compassion, call 586/757-6002 or visit M-STAR’s Web site at www.m-star.org
