NEXT STEPS:

  • The ACA is working hard to gain additional cosponsors on both the House and the Senate bills.  We would certainly love to have your members of Congress sign on to the bill!  Click here to find information for your member of the US House of Representatives.  Your senator's information can be found here.   Please, call or write today and ask them to sign on to HR 2575, the Prosthetic and Orthotic Parity Act.

  • We are currently working with our members to organize in-district meetings.  An in-district meeting is a chance to meet with your elected official or his/her staff in one of the district offices in your state. At this meeting you share what you think about a certain issue or bill, and to try to get him or her to take action on that issue.  Click here for an overview and materials.   You can also contact us for more information or to get involved (federal@amputee-coalition.org or 202/742-1886).

You can also register to participate in a meeting with your member of Congress online at https://www.amputee-coalition.org/advocacy/district-meetings/index.html

  • Healthcare reform is moving in Congress.  The ACA feels that any healthcare reform proposal that truly gets at improving health systems and enhancing access must address the healthcare needs of people with limb loss. Orthotics, prosthetics, and other assistive technologies and related services must be provided without inequitable limits and restrictions. It is also the states’ role in innovating health care standards is respected by protecting state mandates.  We need you to contact your members of Congress TODAY to make sure that people with limb loss are not left behind.  Click here to find information for your member of the US House of Representatives.  Your senator's information can be found here.    A sample letter or e-mail can be found here.

GET INVOLVED!  We need your help to make sure that Congress passes legislation to help meet the needs of people with limb loss.
