Kayakers Plan 80 Mile Kayak Trip Starting in Lake Huron Across Lake St. Claire and Ending At On More information about the Competition: Extremity Games (EXG), a non profit organization created as an extreme amateur sporting competition for individuals living with limb loss or limb difference. The event allows participants to demonstrate skill, persistence and passion while competing for cash and other prizes - proving “There’s No Replacement for the Competitive Spirit™”. This year’s Extremity Games (EXG) are going to take place in several Philanthropy: The Templer Foundation is 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Since it’s inception in 1997 as the Make-A-Difference Corporation, it has provided over one million dollars worth of support to disabled and terminally ill children worldwide. Our primary focus is to provide financial and pragmatic support to disabled and terminally ill children, enabling them – and their families – insofar as we can, to live and to die with dignity. Our predominant areas of operation are Visit www.paultempler.com or www.make-a-difference.org for more information Limb Loss education and support: Amputee Coalition of The Amputee Coalition of America (ACA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reaching out to people with limb loss and empowering them through education, support and advocacy. Since 1986, the ACA has worked to make sure that people experiencing limb loss have has access to information about services, care and products. ACA maintains the National Limb Loss Information Center (NLLIC), the nation’s most comprehensive source of information for people living with limb differences. ACA also offers several support programs through the National Peer Network, as well as offering unique opportunities people with limb loss and their families at Summer Youth Camp and the Annual Education Conference. The Action Plan for People with Limb Loss (APPLL) program advocates for legislation mandating that all amputees with private insurance have access to appropriate levels of coverage. The ACA supports several Michigan Amputee Support Groups. Adaptive Paddler Program: “Riverside Kayak Connection, LLC is pleased to be included with Bridging the Gap as well as developing an Adaptive Paddling Program. We are currently working with an American Canoe Association instructor, with her Adaptive Paddling endorsement, to implement an adaptive paddling instruction program in the Downriver area. We are also working with several communities to assist with making their kayak launches universally accessible. On June 13, 14 and 15th a group of twelve dynamic sea kayakers are going to embark on a challenging journey starting from Light House Park Launch in Port Huron paddling down the St Clair River, across Lake St Clair, down the Detroit River and ending in Gibraltar Mi at the mouth of Lake Erie. This three day trip is to bring awareness to competitive events, philanthropy, limb loss, and water recreation. What do all these things have in common? Michigan.
