Registration is now open for the first-ever Amputee Coalition of America (ACA) regional meeting, which will be held at Clinton Hospital in Clinton, Massachusetts, April 22-23.

ACA members, support group leaders, peer visitors and prosthetic providers from ACA’s Region A – Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island – will gather for two days of education, networking and sharing!

A Peer Visitor Training Seminar will be offered on Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Clinton Hospital at 201 Highland Street. A registration fee of $25 per participant is required and covers training materials.

On Sunday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Region A will meet again at Clinton Hospital for an Amputee Support Training Seminar. This free seminar is an opportunity to learn how to help pass insurance parity legislation, network with support group leaders, receive information about other regional events, and meet ACA President & CEO Paddy Rossbach!

Lunch will be provided at both events. Space is limited in the Peer Visitor Training Seminar to 25 participants and in the Amputee Support Training Seminar to 50 participants, so register today!

Background

Peer visitation is a way of reaching out to help other amputees, who are mostly new and afraid, adapt to limb loss. The goal of the Peer Visitor Training Seminar is to give those interested in becoming ACA-certified peer visitors the information and confidence needed to visit individuals in healthcare settings, at home, or by e-mail. The ACA currently has more than 500 certified peer visitors throughout the nation.

The Amputee Support Training Seminar will help you get what you need for your region through advocacy! Almost eight years ago, Colorado passed the nation’s first bill mandating prosthetic coverage by health insurance providers. Since then, two other states, both in Region A – New Hampshire and Maine – have also passed bills to ensure that people receive the care they need. Come and learn how to work for change with the ACA, get the skills, resources and materials you need, and start fighting for prosthetic parity today!

Founded in 1986, the Amputee Coalition of America (ACA) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee. The mission of the ACA is to reach out to people with limb loss and to empower them through education, support and advocacy. Through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the ACA maintains the National Limb Loss Information Center (NLLIC), the nation's most comprehensive source of information for people living with limb differences.
