ACA Celebrates New Location, Continued Funding

The Amputee Coalition of America (ACA) hosted an Open House at its national headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee on Friday, November 9, 2007. On hand to celebrate the grand opening of the expanded facility were members of the new Volunteer Outreach Team (VOT), local government and Chamber of Commerce officials, other members of the limb loss community, ACA staff and many others.

While guests enjoyed visiting the new 10,000+ sq. ft. facility, the real excitement peaked during the announcement of continued funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the amount of $1.65million per year for four years.

“The programs of the ACA have had an enormous impact on the limb loss community, and the support of the CDC reflects that,” said ACA President and CEO, Paddy Rossbach. “Our relationship with the CDC spans more than a decade,” continued Rossbach, “and their ongoing funding has enabled us to answer the needs of the two million Americans living with limb loss or limb difference.”

The festivities concluded with a ribbon cutting ceremony outside the new facility. Participating in the activities were (pictured below, L to R): Senator Burchett; Charles Burchett, Senator Burchett’s father and a WWII veteran; Dave Leaverton, representative for Senator Corker; Paddy Rossbach, President and CEO of the ACA; and Dave McGill, Chairman of the ACA board. Also present (not pictured) were: Jennifer Morris, Knoxville Chamber Ambassador; Mary Weaver, Knoxville Chamber Ambassador; Jonathan Griswald, representative for Congressman Duncan; Amy Bollinger, Knoxville Chamber Ambassador; and Bill Morris, Knoxville Chamber Ambassador.
